I´m so proud and happy to be featured in the latest issue of the lovely Swedish magazine, Min Boudoir! A while ago I met up with Fanny Kellerman to talk about my love for 30s fashion. You can now find the interview in the magazine. The pictures are taken by Christine Holm, styling by me and make-up and hair is done my the fabulous Johanna Arnell. This was my look yesterday, when a magazine came to take some pictures to use for an article about handicraft. I wore my absolute favorite dress. It has the perfect length, a sweet collar and lovely pearl buttons. But the best thing about it is the pattern, I don´t know if you can see it here, but it´s actuallt pretty little horse carriages!

My bob has reached that perfect length when I can wear it down or do updoes. I give it about a week before it´s looks like hell and I have to go and cut it. Anyone else with the same hairdo that experience the same problem?

My new dress and the loveliest cat in the world!

It´s been a while since I did a proper outfit post. But this dress is so pretty I just have to show you! It´s made by my talented friend Karolina (Orkan Lia) who creates custom made clothes in vintage inspired models and recycled fabrics. This was my first dress in this particualar model. Simple, comfortable and still flattering for the figure. I added the lace details myself, I think it´s got sort of a 30s housemaid feeling to it.

I don´t think I have shown you our bedroom before? Anyhow, this is it! I painted the bed white last summer. The pillows are from H&M and Indiska.

Ignalina strikes a pose! Before we got her, she used to be a show cat. I´m guessing she really liked it since she loves being the centre of attention.

Me & Niklas decided to have waffles for brunch and went to a lovely place here in Stockholm! It was kind of Swedens answer to Hollywood back in the 20´s and 30´s and all the streets are named after moviestars and directors. A wall of famous faces. We felt rigth at home!

This is actually from the evening before, when I went out with my friend Galina.

A have a new little camera that allowes me to take pictures after dark. Here we have some friendy swans that we spotted on our evening walk, oh how I love swans.

Earlier this week, I found this lovely jacket at Indiska, I love the velvet fabric, the simple shape and the detailed embroideries. Also, it has sort of an Art Deco feeling to it! I didn´t buy it since it was quite expensive, but I haven´t been able to stop dreaming about it... Imagine how much fun we could have together! I can see us going to the opera or just out for drinks with friends. It is a very good example of what sort of clothes I love! Simple and elegant and a little bit like a piece of wearable art. Do you like it as much as I do?

Right now we are working on a project called “surface and structure” in school. The task is to create 12 different samples of textile fabric in the loom, using only white materials in order to experiment with other things than patterns and colors. I have decided to use human hair and lace and whatever else creepy/beautiful I can find. My inspiration is Victorian ghosts and horrid beasts.

This week I finally took the time to start transforming our extra room into the lovely craft/art/sewing room I so desperately need. I have been painting and looking trough Stockholms vintage and second hand stores to find the right furniture. I am still looking for that perfect little divan or sofa... This is me before heading to Rocket Room yesterday. Rocket room a swing / rockabilly club here in town. I wore my new green dress from Heyday! which you can´t really see here. I got it for Christmas from my darling mother and my brothers! Here you might get a better look or it. The gorgeous blonde by my side is my friend Helena who has been staying at my place a couple of days.

My first flossa project! I made a wall-hanging of a swan.

The finished result. I was very happy with the way the water turned out, I worked a lot with different materials and colors to get the expression I wanted. I´m not completely satisfied with the swan however. But considering it´s my first larger piece in this technique I guess it could be a lot worse.

Today, the most amazing thing happened, I woke up with freckles...! ....well not really, I may have painted them on. Always wanted them, never had them. You have to admit, it´s not really fair having red hair and absolutely no freckles. How do you like them?

I spent this New Years together with my boyfriend and some of our closes friends and had the best evening in a long time! To sum up 2011, it has been a really great year for me! The main reason for that is that I finally overcame all the shyness and uncertainties that I´ve struggled with for many years. Thanks to that, I´ve been lucky enough to meet some amazing new people, who I now are glad to call my friends. I decided to devote fully to my textile/art education and cast all my doubts about an uncertain future aside. It has also been the year that I started do more modeling and I have had the pleasure to work with many talented photographers and designers. I have big plans for 2012, the most important one, to continue to enjoy life and to do the things that I love. And also to continue to surround myself with positive and inspiring people. As for this blog, I will soon be making some changes that I know will be for the better! I´m very happy to be getting more followers and I hope that you will like what you find here and come back for more! At last but not least, A very Happy new year to you all!

I am finally back in Stockholm after my little trip. It was great to see my family again and I got some amazing christmas gifts that I can´t wait to show you! But first, let´s have a look at what I´ve been up to these last couple of days.

I got to ride in the car with my youngest brother Måns who just taken his drivers license! I was of cource a little scared, but oh so proud of him! Here he is! I got woken up by three little squirrels at my dads place. Only managed to catch this one on photo...

I also got reminded of how cold it get´s there. I even wore pants!

Snow <3 I have missed you!

I also visited an old friend who has four horses! I grew up having my own horse, so riding is something very close to my heart. Unfortionately, it´s very rare that I get the opportunity to do it nowadays. So this was absolutely one of the highlights of the trip!

I also had the time to do some vintage shopping and found some amazing items! I think I will have to show you them tomorrow...

Violette Nozière

I spent this evening watching Violette Nozière, a movie by Claude Chabrol. Based on a true story and taking place in early 1930´s Paris, I pretty much knew I would like it. If not only for the style! It turned out it had more then that to offer! The movie stars Isabelle Huppert, who does a great job and manages to look lovely, while poisoning her own parents. If you are into the 30´s, you should really make sure to see this french pearls!

I spent christmas eve together with my boyfriend and his family. This was my look for the evening, I figured, red always work for christmas! I got this lovely vintage perfume bottle and my favorite perfume: Chanel NO5 My boyfriend also got me this phrenology head! I have been wanting one forever, so it feels good to finally be able to add it to my little curious collection! This is us on our traditional christmas walk. On monday I´m heading to the dark forests of nothern sweden to spend some time with my family! I hope you all had a lovely christmas!

For today’s post, I would like to bring your attention to the relatively new, Swedish brand: Maska. Maska sells exclusive knitwear made in high quality yarn. The clothes are classic and a tad vintage inspired. Most of the clothes are in very simple models with exquisite work on details. After trying on the 20s inspired “Ellinore” dress, I was completely sold! Being a person with insight in textile materials, I can really tell the difference between good and bad quality yarn. And Maska definitely uses the best kind. They are sooo soft and comfortable, and the fitting is great to! Another great thing is the length of the dresses, even on me, who is a pretty tall gal, they end just below the knee. I really hope they continue to use their current vintage inspiration for their upcoming collections!

Most of you probably don’t know this, but for many years my hair was pitch black and cut in a classic 20s bob. I truly love this hairstyle for its shiny, elegant and sleek look. Idag var en dag som borde ha spenderats i vävstolen, men då mitt garn är slut och min nya beställning ännu inte har kommit fick jag plötsligt en ledig dag. Så jag bestämde mig för att hälsa på Fanny i hennes butik: Kellerman Vintage!

Kellerman Vintage ligger vid Skanstull och har ett bra utbud av tidstypiska kläder från olika årtionden. Kläderna är dessutom i fint skick och priserna är bättre än vad många andra vintagebutiker i Stockholm erbjuder! Tjusiga butiksägarinnan Fanny Kellerman!

Butiken har ett stort utbut av hattar, vilket ju är min favoritaccessoar!

Jag blev lite kär i den här tjusiga pälskragen. Tyvärr var den för liten för mig.

Men den var mycket klädsam på eleganta Caroline som också befann sig i butiken.

Jag hade sedan tidigare siktet inställt på den här fina klänningen då Fanny lagt upp dessa bilder på sin vintageblogg. Den visade sig till min stora glädje passa perfekt!

Only one month left before Christmas, this is on the top of my wish list this year!

Lovely curve enhancing dress from Daisy Dapper, available in dark blue, brown and plaid. My favorite is the brown one. I have tried it on and it fits me like a glove! Anatomy heart necklace from Folksy. Phrenology head. I´ve been wanting one for years but they are quite hard to find at reasonable prices. This one is a brand new replica from Urban Outfitters.

Curiosities for my collection. Like this lovely little sparrow by Sabina Brewer, available on Etsy. Seller also guarantees that no animals were killed for the purpose of creating her items, something that I think is very important when looking for things like these.

Fröken Frauke Presenterar: DUTY CALLS

På Lördag är det äntligen dags för Stockholms bästa nattklubb igen! Den här gången i stora salen på Nalen. Temat är andra världskriget, eller rättare sagt kabarén och kreativiteten som trots krig och nöd ändå flödade. Utöver fantastisk burlesk med flera artister utlovas jazzband, sjukstuga och en 1940-tals inspirerad fotoutställning. Mannen bakom fotoutställningen är John Paul Bichard som inspirerats av sin familjs evakution av The Channel Islands under andra världskriget. I Söndags hade paret Bichard afternoon tea och förhandsvisning av utställningen, det var en mycket trevlig tillställning, och jag kan lova att ni kommer att älska fotografierna! Vicky Butterfly (UK) kommer att uppträda. Jag har haft koll på den här makalösa kvinnan i flera år och tycker det är fantastiskt roligt att hon nu kommer till Sverige.

Uppträder gör även den alltid lika strålande Fröken Frauke!

I haven´t really told you about my Super Mario project. Since this blog is about vintage, I try to keep it that way. But this, I have to show you! The last 3 years I have been working on this huge Super Mario cross stitch and know it is finally finished! Idag var det Little Vintage Lover Fair på färgfabriken här i Stockholm. Jag sålde flugor och rosetter och delade bord med Divine Decadence Darling och Orkan Lia. Jag och Christina. Carolina la vantarna på mässan allra tjusigaste klänning!

Min favoritkille kom och hälsade på.

Tjusiga Tifa var på plats och sålde premiärnumret av tidningen Min Boudoir, jag fick ett ex med mig hem och dog lite över hur fin den var!

Alltid lika vackra Fanny från Kellerman Vintage fick mig att göra dagens enda köp, trots att jag inte tänkt köpa nånting. Vad det är för ni se en annan dag!

I usually let the pictures talk for themselves, but this time I thought I would share my personal look on beauty: I have always admired the great stars of the silent era for their grace and charisma. To me, beauty is about so much more than being blessed with good looks. It´s about how you present and carry yourself. In our time, looking “pretty” seems to be the ideal. To look “pretty” you should dress according to current fashion, preferable in preppy colors. It also helps to be skinny and wear discrete make-up in pink tones. Personally I think this style is boring. And I think it sad that young girls spend so much time trying to look just pretty. This I don’t get: why would you want to look pretty when you can look elegant and graceful instead? These things have nothing to do with size, facial features or happy color combinations. Elegant can be swan like and petite like Audrey Hepburn or a mysterious vamp like Theda Bara.

You can look elegant in a simple dress as long as it the rigth model. I think it´s extremely important to know what flatters YOU the best, regardless of fashion. Your body shape does not change every season! I understand the ones who like fashion, but I wish people would consume less crap and more long lasting quality. Yesterday I had a photo shoot with Christine Holm, one of my favorite photographers to work with! We also had the talented hairstylist/make-up artist Johanna Arnell join us. I can´t wait to show you the result! But in the meantime, you will have to settle for this slightly less professional photo that was taken with my cell phone. As you may notice, my hair is a bit shorter, I was in really bad need of a cut so I went to the hairdresser last week.

I found some new clothes in my own closet today, this dress was a little bit to small when I got it, and I had forgotten I had it. Strangely it fits me now, perhaps I have been walking more since school started again.

I´m guessing it´s from the earliy 50s. This dress was a present from my mum and I did not think it was really my style, but I liked it much better once I put it on!

A few weeks ago I visited my family in the north of sweden. My mother had bougth the loveliest English wallpaper! When me, Niklas and Ignalina buy our own appartment, I plan to get the same for the bedroom. This was "my" room for a few days.

Today I had two castings to go to, one for a movie and one for a commercial. Just small extra/background parts but I was a bit nervous anyway. I think it went allrigth but in the end, you never know what they are looking for. I made sure to dress to impress! I wore my newest dress from Orkan Lia and my favourite hat from Marika Smith, and if nothing else, I looked prim and proper!

Minns ni att jag berättade att jag var modell på en fototräff i Hagaparken i somras? Jag har gjort en liten sammanställning av mina favoritbilder därifrån som jag tänkte visa er. Det var både ovant och stressigt att hålla reda på ca 5 fotografer i taget och försöka ge alla bra poser och bilder. Men det var samtidigt roligt och i efterhand väldigt fint att se hur olika bilderna blev! Min look för dagen var en kombination av Tant Grön och Tant Brun, om ni minns den fina Elsa Beskow sagan.

It was quite difficult to pose for all the different people at the same time and try to make sure everyone got the chance to take good pictures. Därför har jag ramat in några favoriter. Då alla inte får plats hemma hos oss finns nedanstående nu till fösäljning på Brandstationen här i Stockholm. Brandstationen är en del av HerrJudit och en av mina absoluta favoritaffärer!

On my trip to Berlin I did some shopping! First I found this pretty little hat, I have been looking for a cloche hat for what feels like forever, and finally I found the perfect one! I predict I will live in it this fall. I also found the perfect matching umbrella, It´s quite huge, so I had to work magic to fit it into my suitcase home. But it was definitely worth it! (The little tweed jacked is actually from Zaras youth department.)

Det har varit tyst här i en vecka då jag semestrat i Berlin med min sambo och 2 vänner. Det var mitt första besök i denna underbara stad. Självklart passade jag på att besöka min favoritdesigner Lena Hoscheks butik där. Såhär såg det ut!

Jag ser oförskämt nöjd ut utanför butiken. Inne i butiken var allt så fint så att man dog lite inombords.

Dessvärre låg prisklassen lite utanför min semesterkassa, så jag köpte bara några vykort.

Och plockade upp ett par kataloger.

Translation: I spent the last week in Berlin with my boyfriend and some friends. It was my first visit to this wonderful city, but definitely not my last! One of the best things was to visit Lena Holscheks store, it was really lovely! I picked up the new autumn/winter calendar and was amazed by how perfect everything was. Lenas sense of color and mixing patterns is out of this world and the clothes are always vintage inspired but still very new and fresh. I will update soon with more pictures from my trip!

Edward J. Steichen (March 27, 1879 – March 25, 1973) was an American photographer, painter, and art gallery and museum curator. He was the most frequently featured photographer in Alfred Stieglitz' groundbreaking magazine Camera Work during its run from 1903 to 1917. Steichen also contributed the logo design and a custom typeface to the magazine. In partnership with Stieglitz, Steichen opened the "Little Galleries of the Photo-Secession", which was eventually known as 291, after its address. This gallery presented among the first American exhibitions of (among others) Henri Matisse, Auguste Rodin, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Constantin Brâncuşi. Steichen's photos of gowns designed by couturier Paul Poiret in the magazine Art et Décoration in 1911 are regarded as the first modern fashion photographs ever published. Serving in the US Army in World War I (and the US Navy in the Second World War), he commanded significant units contributing to military photography. Jag är lite smått förälskad i skomärket Clarks. Som jag tidigare nämnt är nästintill omöjligt att hitta vintageskor i större storlekar och nytillverkade skor är helt enkelt för det mesta ohyggligt otilltalande i sin design. För mig är det jätteviktigt att skor inte bara är fint utan bekväma också, vilket Clarks verkligen har lyckats med. Här kommer några av mina favoriter: Modellen Bombay Ligths, jag har spanat in dessa raringar i skobutiken i månader. Dom har perfekt klackhöjd och är overkligt bekväma. Jag kan bara inte bestämma mig för om jag gillar dom bäst i svart eller rött. Jag har nästan bestämmt mig för svart, men bara nästan. Men dom röda är ju också fantastiskt fina! Bachelor Party, jag gillar verkligen modellen men är inte helsåld på färgerna. Hade gärna sett att dom fanns i svart också. Modellen Asha View, på tok för smal klack för att jag skulle känna mig bekväm i dom, men ack så fina! Och slutligen Agra Sunrise, en ganska så diskret och stilren modell.

Jag har tänkt blogga om dom här gamla magasinen ända sen jag hittade dom för några veckor sen. Dom är verkligen helt ljuvliga från omslag till baksida. Hoppas att ni gillar dom lika mycket som jag gör! Turban av Enery Soeurs, helt i flerfärgad sammet, flott arrangerad i knut på hjässan. Elegant svart filthatt, monterad över en turban av högröd crépe. Turbanens ena enda kommer från kullen ovh haller ner över axeln. (Modell Claude S:t Cyr) Lemonnier arrangerar sin turban som två stora horn. Materialet utgöres av blommig lamé. En mås i olika grå nyanset är den djärva men effektfulla besättningen på den här eleganta baretten. Klänningen till vilken hatten bäres är i svart och parmaviolett, och modellen kommer från Grés. Lite av varje.

Sy nytt av det gamla i garderoben.

Utomordentligt klädsam till Fru Dondroffs blonda, flickakiga typ är denna böljande toilette av tyll och taft med blanda rosetter på kjolen. (Maison Augusta) Chiffonjén i bakgrunden är en familjeklenod , hitförd på 1700-talet från Tyskland av den förste Dondroff.

En magnifik kreation från Meas Franska. Materialet är vit satin duchess och modellen är tecknad av Grierder & C:o, Zurich.

Den halvlånga jackan i neutral färg har en stadgad popularitet vid det här laget, och den är verkligen ett plagg för hela året. Jackan är för det mesta vid och räcker en smula nedanför fingertopparna, men däremot växlar fickor, slag och krage utseende med varje modell.

Idag var jag modell på en fototräff i Hagaparken. Dagen till ära hade jag lånat den här urtjusiga Marika Smith hatten från Poplin. Det stor problemet nu blir ju att återlämna den imorgon, för som bilderna tydligt illustrerar trivs den alldeles ypperligt på min hjässa! Dom här bilderna fotade jag själv innan avfärden och dom riktiga får ni se så snart dom trillar in i min mailbox! Translation: I did some modeling today and had borrowed this lovely hat from Poplin. The hat is made by Marika Smith and I absolutely fell in love with it. I took these pictures myself just before leaving but I will show you the real ones as soon as I get them!

Såhär såg det ut idag när jag agerade statist i en kommande tv-serie som kommer att visas på Tv4 i höst. Jag och det glada gänget ovan spelade festdeltagare! A few days ago I got these new/old magazines. So yesterday, me and Katja went to Drottningsholm, to sit in under the trees and read. I think it´s the best place to be in Stockholm on hot summer days.

Suddenly, I was attacked by an angry wasp and tried my best to hunt it away with my 40s fashion magazine.

Katja however remeined perfectly calm.

I wore my yellow/white chequered dress and new hair flowers.

Katja wore her new pretty dress.

After a while we took a walk over to the China Palace, but soon got dizzy and decided it was to warm to do anything. So after having ice cream we went back to the trees.

Västra skogens kolonilott

Igår hade vi alltså terminsavslutning och firade med klassmiddag på Patricias kolonilott i västra skogen. Vädret var strålande och jag hade på mig min nya favoritklänning från Old Touch. Jag hade aldrig varit där tidigare och blev helt förtjust över hur fint det var! Lotta och Patricia var så vackra i sina röda klänningar. Överallt fanns det blommor och grönska. Katja var tjusig i sin nya klänning.

Jag satt mest i skuggan under äppelträden och njöt. Nu vill jag såklart ha en egen liten kolonilott, lättare sagt än gjort när man bor i Stockholm.

Efter middagen åkte jag och Katja till lilla hotellbaren, min älskling skulle ju spela med Emmon, jag var som alltid mycket stolt! Trevligaste kvällen på länge tror jag.

Translation: Yesterday was the last day of this semester and me and my classmates celebrated with dinner at Patricias allotment. I had never been there before and was amazed by how beautiful it was! I found a favorite spot in the shade under the apple trees. After having dinner, me and Katja went to see my darling play. It was the release party for Emmons new album Nomme. The show was great! I think overall it was one of the best evenings in a long time.

En ny tand

Idag har jag varit hos tandläkaren och lagat min trasiga framtand. (Den gick sönder när jag som barn skulle rida på min osynliga tusenfotning nedför trappen, det gick inte så bra.) Nu ska jag iväg på klassmiddag och sen releasefest för Emmons nya skiva! Pepp! Kom förbi Fritz Corner om ni inte har andra planer ikväll.

Translation: Today I went to the dentist to fix my broken front tooth. It got hurt badly when I as a young girl had a tragic accident riding an invisible centipede down the stairs. Now Im off to have dinner with my classmates and later attend a releaseparty for my friend Emmas (Emmons) new album!

Vi promenerade ut till Djurgården och bestämde oss för att Rosendals trädgård var finast! Bilderna får ni se så fort jag får dom. Innan avfärden passade Ignalina på att burra ner sig i 5 lager tyll.

Translation: Today I met up with photographer Jonas Mattsson for a photoshoot at Rosendals, a lovely garden here in Stockholm, before I left, Ignalina made her self comfortable in all the layers of tulle. I´ll show you the pictures as soon as I get them:)

En kväll på Drottningholm

Så blev det äntligen fredag och dags att besöka Drottningholms fantastiskt fina teatersalong, det var genrepspremiär och operan Cosí van tutte framfördes och det var så himla bra! (inte min bild, hittad på internet)

Fina Katja hade varit med och sytt upp kostymerna! Vi hade båda iklätt oss hatt kvällen till ära och charmade därmed sönder alla äldre damer. (i vanlig ordning)

Translation: Finally Friday and me and Katja went to Drottningholm to se the opera Cosí fan tutte. Fabulous Katja had helped to sew the costumes, I was so proud! We both wore hats and charmed all the older ladies, as per usual.

En vit tylldröm med det ljuvligaste rosmönstret! Ignalina granskar avundsjukt mitt fynd.

Såhär såg jag ut idag när jag träffade Christina för vad som börjar bli en trevlig måndastradition. Stans bästa sushi och ett glas vin följt av mer vin på trevlig lokal på söder.

Enskilt projekt

Jag är äntligen färdig med broderiet som jag har arbetat på den senaste veckorna i vårat enskilda projekt. Det är en salig blandning av tekniker, men mest applikation och stjälkstygn.

Translation: I finally finnished this embroidery that i´ve been working on the last weeks! If anyone recognise the face I call tell you that it´s silent movie starlet Evelyn Brent.
